California Statutes § 14428 Generally; certification; reconciliation; centers using tabulating equipment
Statute Text
(a)
Notwithstanding Section 14420 , in elections conducted using vote centers, at the end of each voting day, the precinct board shall remove the voted ballots from the ballot container and deliver them to the central receiving center pursuant to Section 14422.
(b)
The precinct board shall certify to the election official the number of ballots cast at the vote center on the roster, as well as the number of ballots voted. If there is any discrepancy between the numbers, the discrepancy shall be noted with an explanation of the difference and signed by all members of the precinct board.
(c)
The precinct board shall record on forms the information needed for the reconciliation of the ballots required by Section 14405.
(d)
For vote centers using tabulating equipment, the precinct board shall record the number of ballots cast on each voting device and securely seal the device to prevent additional ballots from being cast until the next day of voting. The precinct board shall record all seals used for this procedure on a log for each vote center.
