Re: Opinion Request Justice Court Judge Qualifications Residence Within District
Dear John:
This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter of October 18, wherein you request an opinion from this office on the following question:
‘May a qualified elector of Benton County become a candidate for the office of Justice Court Judge of a Supervisor's District, when he does not reside in said District?’
Your question was addressed and answered in the negative by an opinion from this office dated February 20, 1979, to Honorable Henry Dean Horton, Winston County Circuit Clerk. I enclose a copy of this opinion for your reference.
Trusting that this is adequate to answer your inquiry and with best wishes and kindest personal regards, I remain
Yours very truly,
A. F. Summer, Attorney General.
Oscar P. Mackey, Assistant Attorney General.
