Qualifications for Justice Court Judge
Dear Judge Brown:
Attorney General Edwin Lloyd Pittman has received your letter of request and has assigned it to the undersigned for research and reply. In your letter you state:
“Please send me a written opinion as to qualifications of Justice Court Judge.
“As to required time to live in district before qualifying.
“As to registration in that district.â€
In response to your inquiry concerning qualifications for Justice Court Judge, please find enclosed a copy of a prior opinion addressed to Tippah County Democratic Executive Committee, dated June 20, 1983, which states that a candidate for Justice Court Judge must reside two (2) years in the county next preceding his selection and be a resident of the election district in which he seeks to run for a minimum of thirty (30) days.
Very truly yours,
Edwin Lloyd Pittman, Attorney General.
Ryan Hood, Special Assistant Attorney General.
