Re: Judges To Be Elected From District in 1983
Dear Judge Reeves:
Attorney General Bill Allain has received your letter and has assigned it to the undersigned for research and reply. In your letter you state:
“Mr. Hood, I am writing in reference to our redistricting of our county as far as the judgeship is concerned since the new district lines have been established most the my voters live in a different district from which I live. Question: Will I have to reside in the district in which I run in? Since after the election of 1983 the new 1984 administration will have county-wide jurisdiction.â€
In response to your question, please find enclosed a copy of an opinion addressed to the Honorable W. B. Meek, dated September 13, 1982, concerning justice court elections.
Very truly yours,
Bill Allain, Attorney General.
