Dear Ms. Sulser:

Attorney General Edwin Lloyd Pittman has received your letter of request and has assigned it to me for research and reply.

Your letter states:

"I am writing to request an opinion concerning the 1986 chancery and circuit court judgeship elections. "If an injunction is filed to delay the primary election scheduled to be held on June 3, 1986, will the candidates who have qualified for this election have to requalify when another election date is set? "I bring this inquiry to your attention as this matter relates to Kirksey v. Allain and the relief sought by this lawsuit."

The subject matter of your inquiry is involved in pending litigation. Therefore, pursuant to Miss. Code Annotated 7-5-25 (Supp. 1985) we are unable to render an official opinion responsive to your request.

Very truly yours, EDWIN LLOYD PITTMAN, ATTORNEY GENERAL
