TEXT Honorable Sandra N. Willis
Circuit Clerk
Houston, Mississippi 38851

Dear Mrs. Willis:

Attorney General Mike Moore has received your letter of request and has assigned it to me for research and reply. Your letter states:

"In our phone conversation January 10, 1992 you indicated that it would be satisfactory for the clerk to use the computer to print the voter registration list and to certify it for the jury commission.

Because code section 13-5-8 does not require that the commissioners meet, it would be acceptable for the clerk to call the commissioners to notify them that the list has been completed and is on file in the office. The commissioners are to meet in April to compile the master list, create the jury wheel and jury box. This may be done by using a computer or electronic device."

In response to your inquiry, it is the opinion of this office that the certification of a computer print-out of the voter registration list to the jury commission will satisfy the requirements of Mississippi Code Annotated Section 13-5-8 (Supp. 1991). As to completing the certification process, we are of the opinion that written notification to the commissioners that the list has been certified and is on file in your office would suffice.

Sincerely,

MIKE MOORE, ATTORNEY GENERAL
