Re: COMPENSATION FOR DEPUTY CIRCUIT CLERKS

Dear Ms. Pryor:

Attorney General Mike Moore has received your letter of request and has assigned it to me for research and reply. Your letter states:

"Please send an opinion on if I have employed one or more Deputy Clerks whose duty is to register voters, am I entitled to the $12,000 allotment provided for in Code Section 25-7-15 (2) Annotated?"

In response to your question, please see the enclosed copy of an opinion addressed to George H. Slade, Jr., dated February 3, 1993. In summary that opinion states that Section 25-7-15 (2) would apply to Washington County only if said county meets one of the factual descriptions stated therein.

Sincerely,

MIKE MOORE, ATTORNEY GENERAL
