those facts, it is the opinion of this office that the governing authorities would have the discretionary authority to approve the payment of proper legal fees to the attorneys representing the municipality's interests. We suggest that you contact the Mississippi Ethics Commission prior to any such payment in order to insure that the municipal governing authorities do not violate our conflict of interest laws.
