Re: School Board Elections

Dear Mr. Treloar:

Attorney General Mike Moore has received your letter of request and has assigned it to me for research and reply. A copy of your letter is attached for reference, in which you state:

We have two school board seats coming up for election in November. Please give me the legal responsibility of the County Superintendent of Education in publicizing the election and informing the public of qualifying deadlines and qualifying procedures.

The county superintendent of education does not have any responsibility for conducting the election of the school board. That responsibility falls to the county election commission.

If this office can be of any further assistance, please let us know.

Very truly yours,

Mike Moore, Attorney General.

Sandra Murphy Shelson, Assistant Attorney General.
