Dear Mr. Eleuterius:
Attorney General Mike Moore has received your letter of request and has assigned it to me for research and reply. A copy of your letter is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. In your letter you inform us that you had a considerable campaign debt left over from the 1983 election process. During 1987, a number of your friends and supporters raised a substantial sum of money which would more than retire the campaign debt you have remaining. In your letter you ask a number of questions concerning how the money may be used.
Of course any money which you receive to support your candidacy for public office is subject to the reporting requirements of Miss. Code 23-15-801 (Supp. 1987) et seq. Because the remainder of your questions pertain to matters outside the duties of your public office, we suggest that you seek private legal counsel to assist you in those areas. See Miss. Code Ann. 7-5-25 (Supp. 1987).
