South Dakota Regulations § 5:02:09:01.04 Sealing tabulating equipment

Up to Chapter 5:02:09: Automatic tabulating equipment

After the automatic tabulating equipment produces an errorless count during a test, the person in charge of the election must seal the equipment as follows, according to the type of machine used in the election:
(1) DS200:
(a) Open the access door using your black barrel key and insert the election definition USB flash drive in the port labeled "B". Secure the flash drive with a wire seal;

(b) Close the access door and lock with a medium barrel key. Affix a label seal over the place where the access door meets the body of the machine;

(c) Open up the rear compartment located on the top, back left area of the DS200 behind the screen. Place a backup USB flash drive in the available port. Thread a wire seal through both the backup USB flash drive and the loop provided to secure the flash drive;

(d) Ensure that the rear access door is locked with a medium barrel key and affix a label seal over the place where the rear access door meets the body of the machine. The rear access door covers the backup USB flash drive;

(e) Close the touch screen display and secure the lock with a medium barrel key. Affix a label seal vertically over the place where the main section of the unit meets the touch screen display display; and

(f) Affix a second label seal over the seam where the top of the unit joins to the base;

(2) DS450:
(a) Open the access door using your black barrel key and insert the election definition USB flash drive in the port labeled "B". Secure the flash drive with a wire seal;
(b) The rear panel of the DS450 is secured with six thumbscrews. A location is provided for a wire or plastic seal which must be placed. Tamper-evident labels must also be applied across the DS450 housing and rear panel on the top, bottom, and both sides;

(c) On the right side of the DS450, a clear access door protects the USB ports. The access door must be secured using the integrated key lock, a label seal, and a wire or padlock seal; and

(d) On the left side of the DS450, a clear access door protects the power switch, power cord, network port, and USB port. The access door must be secured using the integrated key lock and a wire or padlock seal. A label seal must also be applied any time the access door is opened and closed again; and

(3) DS850:
(a) Open the access door using your black barrel key and insert the election definition USB flash drive in the port labeled "B". Secure the flash drive with a wire seal;
(b) Secure the rear of the tabulator by locking both door locks. Apply a wire seal through the opening provided in the lower right corner of the door;

(c) On the left side of the DS850, a clear access door protects the power switch, power cord, network port, and USB port. The access door must be secured using the integrated key lock and a wire or padlock seal; and

(d) On the right side of the DS850, three clear access doors protect the USB ports. The access doors must be secured using the integrated key locks and wire or padlock seals.
