Vermont Statutes § 2537 Early or absentee voting in the town clerk's office
Statute Text
(a)
(1)
A voter may, if he or she chooses, apply in person to the town clerk for the early voter absentee ballots and envelopes.
(2)
In this case, the clerk shall furnish the early voter absentee ballots and envelopes when a valid application has been made or at such time as the clerk receives the ballots, whichever comes first.
(3)
The voter may:
(A)
mark his or her ballots, place them in the envelope, sign the certificate, and return the ballots in the envelope containing the certificate to the town clerk or an assistant town clerk without leaving the office of the town clerk;
(B)
take the ballots and return them to the town clerk in the same manner as if the ballots had been received by mail; or
(C)
if the board of civil authority has voted to allow it pursuant to section
2546b
of this subchapter, mark the ballots and deposit them directly into the vote tabulator or ballot box in accordance with section
2546b
of this subchapter.
(b)
Except for justices of the peace as provided in section
2538
of this subchapter, a person shall not take any ballot from the town clerk on behalf of any other person.
